Action Alert:
Call for Charges Against Parents who Enabled Shooting Death of 6 y/o

On April 8, 2019, the parents of six year-old Millie Kelly were loading their vehicle in the driveway of their home in Paulding, Georgia. The mother got out of the vehicle to see why it wouldn’t start and heard a gunshot. Millie’s four year-old brother had founded a loaded, unlocked handgun in the center console of the vehicle and discharged it, hitting his sister in the head with a round.

Millie was taken to the hospital and died two days later from her injuries. She was a student at The King’s Academy in Woodstock, Georgia.

Despite gross parental negligence in the case, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office has decided not to file charges.

Please contact Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge and District Attorney Dick Donovan through the channels below and give them the following message, personalized to your liking:

Please bring charges against the parent who owns the handgun used to kill six year-old Millie Kelly on April 8, 2019. I can’t think of anything more dangerous and irresponsible than keeping a loaded, unlocked handgun in the CENTER CONSOLE of the vehicle you travel in with young children. Tragedies like this are not “accidental.” These shootings are enabled by the gross negligence of adult, gun-owning guardians and will not cease until charges are brought with consistency. Charge the gun-owning parent of Millie Kelly. Do justice by her and all the other children in Georgia who have been killed by such negligence. STOP coddling reckless gun owners in Paulding County! I want to see you standing with these children for once. Their lives matter. I will be watching your actions in this case closely and I VOTE.
