Action Alert:
Call for Felony Charge Against Dallas Gun-Toter who Beat Black Woman

On the evening of March 21, 2019, 24 year-old L’Daijohnique Lee drove the wrong way down a one-way street in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas while dropping off a friend. Austin Shuffield, 30, was attempting to exit a parking lot on the street in his truck and was temporarily blocked.

Shuffield shaved off his beard for his arraignment on a weapons charge.

Shuffield got out of his car and made his way over to Lee, attempting to take a photograph of her license plate with his phone. Lee felt physically intimidated and threatened to mace him if he didn’t back away. By this point, Shuffield had drawn a concealed handgun and was holding it by his side.

When Lee went to call the police, Shuffield swatted her phone out of her hand. She then hit him in the face to back him up. Shuffield responded by hitting Lee, an unarmed woman, with five haymaker punches as a bystander recorded the confrontation. Shuffield then kicked Lee’s phone down the street.

Remarkably, Lee was charged with felony criminal mischief for smashing the windows of Shuffield’s truck after the incident. That charge was withdrawn after public outcry. Meanwhile, Shuffield has been charged only with misdemeanor offenses, even though police referred him for a felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.

Please contact Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot through one of the channels below and give him the following message, personalized to your liking:

DA Cruezot, bring a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against Austin Shuffield immediately. I am absolutely furious that  L’Daijohnique Lee was temporarily charged with felony criminal mischief and yet Shuffield is facing only misdemeanor charges! This cowardly man pulled a loaded gun on Lee and beat her senseless in the street. The entire thing was captured on video. What the heck are you waiting for, sir? Are you actually suggesting this use of force and intimidation by Shuffield against an unarmed woman was appropriate? I certainly hope not. I am sick and tired of seeing gun-toters treated like super-citizens in Dallas County (enjoying rights the rest of us don’t have) while simultaneously making everyone around them LESS safe with their reckless behavior.  Prosecute Austin Shuffield for a felony and send a message: this type of thuggery will not be tolerated. I will be watching your actions in this case very closely and I vote in every election.
