On the same day that New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed a historic new package of gun control laws, state Attorney General Gurbir Grewal issued a stern warning to sellers of illegal “ghost guns,” many of which are created with 3D printers.
“We sent cease and desist letters to companies marketing and selling illegal firearms in our state,” said Grewal at a news conference. “They call themselves ‘ghost gun’ manufacturers, and they sell partially complete guns that buyers can finish on their own. They also sell the parts at the same time to finish these ghost guns, [including] deadly assault rifles. And as if that weren’t enough, some of these manufacturers, through their websites, also offer online training on how to do so.”
Ghost guns have no serial numbers and can’t be traced by law enforcement when they are recovered at crime scenes. By selling such weapons, individuals are breaking both federal law and New Jersey law.
Attorney General Grewal said such behavior “is simply outrageous and it won’t be tolerated.” “The clock is ticking,” he told ghost gun makers. “We are coming after you.” This is the most proactive, aggressive approach we have seen by any government to date (local, state or federal) in dealing with the problem of 3D-printed guns. If it becomes a model for other governments, countless lives will be saved.

I was delighted to watch Attorney General Grewal’s news conference on June 13, 2018 in which he announced his office would be taking a proactive and aggressive approach to indicting individuals selling “ghost guns” and parts in New Jersey in violation of state and federal law. Hearing the AG tell these illegal sellers “the clock is ticking” and “we’re coming after you” is EXACTLY the tone I want to hear from law enforcement when it comes to enforcing our nation’s gun laws. I am sick and tired of living in a country devastated by this ongoing epidemic, a country were gun-runners are treated with kid gloves. I want a ZERO TOLERANCE policy not on trigger-pullers, but on the traffickers who profit by arming them, knowing violence will be the result. Go to the top of the trafficking chain and put these corrupt gun dealers and traffickers behind bars. Enough of them making money off the blood of our loved ones. Go after them with EVERYTHING you have and I will be behind you 100%.
