Tell Apple & Google to Pull Video Game Targeting Reporters

Update: In response to pressure placed on mobile hosts Google and Apple, TFG removed the “Breaking News” mission from its “Sniper 3D Assassin” game on May 20, 2019. Thanks to all those who have taken this action!

The video game “Sniper 3D Assassin” is a mobile game app available on iOS and Android in which players target and kill reporters.

In a mission titled “Breaking News,” players are tasked with shooting and killing a journalist who has “bribed a cop” to get a “briefcase full of sensitive documents.” By this time, players have already killed a gunman who allegedly killed several people at a pizzeria, a person who stole a backpack from a tourist, and three men guarding a gang’s gun arsenal.

The Sniper 3D Assassin app has  a rating of about 4½ stars with a combined 12 million reviews on both platforms. It was developed by TFG, a company based in Brazil. Neither Apple nor Google has offered any explanation as to why they continue to carry the “game.”

Please contact Apple and Google through one of the channels below and give them the following message, personalized to your liking:

I am contacting you to demand you pull the mobile game app “Sniper 3D Assassin” from your online store immediately. I cannot believe you are selling a “video game” that allows players (many of them children) to target, shoot and kill journalists. This is sickening and incredibly dangerous given the current political climate in the United States (with a corrupt president who describes reporters as “enemies of the people”). I treasure our First Amendment rights and would hope your company has a modicum of respect for freedom of the press and the role it plays in our democracy. What you’re doing here is wrong and immoral. You are contributing to hatred that has already resulted in the deaths of journalists in the United States and worldwide. Shame on you! I am done buying ANY of your products until I see this horrific “game” permanently removed from your app store.
