Two years has passed since the horrific mass shooting at The Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida in which a single gunman killed 49 club-goers and wounded 53 others. Since that time, Florida has seen more mass shooting tragedies, including one that occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018. Seventeen students and faculty were killed, and an additional 17 injured by a single gunman that day. Both shooters used assault weapons.
Shortly after the Parkland shooting, members of that community in Pompano Beach protested outside the offices of a Russian front company named “Kalashnikov USA.” The company has been distributing semiautomatic AK-variant pistols, shotguns and rifles out of Pompano Beach since February 2016.
“Kalashnikov USA” is a front company for the sanctioned Russian arms giant Kalashnikov Concern (KC). In 2011, KC formed a shell company, the Russian Weapons Company (RWC), in Pennsylvania. RWC manager Michael Tiraturian is a longtime business associate and friend of Alexey Krivoruchko, the CEO and majority shareholder of KC. RWC imported rifles and shotguns from KC into the states until 2014, when KC was sanctioned for its role in the illegal invasion of Ukraine.
When RWC’s import business was halted, a new shell company was created to distribute KC’s Russian-made products in the United States. “Kalashnikov USA” has been allowed to sell firearms out of Pompano Beach even though RWC told Governor Rick Scott’s administration the company would be importing parts from KC in Russia illegally!

I want you to know I am aware that Kalashnikov USA is a shell company for the sanctioned Russian arms giant Kalashnikov Concern. Your parent company’s manager, Michael Tiraturian, is a longtime business associate and friend of Alexey Krivoruchko, the CEO and majority shareholder of KC. And that’s just one of the connections. As an American and lover of democracy, it outrages me that your company has been allowed to sell AK-variant firearms largely made in Russia out of a warehouse in Pompano Beach. When Putin and his allies wanted to subvert democracy, they engaged in a cyberwar fueled by malicious propaganda. But they have also subverted our democracy by profiting from the proliferation of assault weapons into our communities—weapons of death distributed by Kalashnikov USA. I am 100% nonviolent and will be spending my time educating your community and state about who you are and demanding that Florida’s elected officials put you out of business.
