Action Alert:
Thank Salesforce for Ending Business with Assault Weapon Retailers

On April 11, 2019, business software giant Salesforce quietly released an updated “Acceptable Use and External-Facing Services Policy” that bars customers from using its e-commerce technology to sell fully-automatic firearms and semiautomatic firearms that accept a detachable magazine and have features of an assault weapon (pistol grip(s), silencer, grenade launcher, collapsing stock, barrel shroud, etc.). using its e-commerce technology. Salesforce software is used by retailers to market products, manage customer service, and fulfill orders.

The change will affect “a small number of existing customers when their current contracts expire,” including Camping World’s Gander Outdoor, which sells assault rifles.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has also given the group March For Our Lives a $1 million contribution and called for a federal ban on assault weapons. Salesforce was ranked second in Fortune magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For in 2019” list.

I was delighted to learn that Salesforce will cease doing business with retailers of assault rifles (both fully-automatic and semi-automatic). I can’t thank you enough for this decision. Firearms like the AR-15 have become the weapon of choice for mass shooters and wreaked unbelievable carnage in the United States. I REFUSE to live in a society teeming with battlefield rifles! We must do better by ourselves and our children. Immediate access to these weapons is steadily eroding our individual freedoms, not enhancing them. It means so much to me that you are helping to lead the way to a safer, better future. I can assure you I will be recommending Salesforce software to the companies I deal with from here on out. I will not forget what you have done here.
