VOTE!

Monday 2 November 2020 – Tomorrow is election day, and while we would never tell you how to vote, we will tell you which candidates support life-saving gun law reform (Biden/Harris, McGrath in Kentucky).  We can also tell you who has done u-turns on their previous gun law promises (Trump) and who has single-handedly used their position to stop bipartisan bills the Houses sent to the Senate and brags about it (Mitch McConnell).  We can share information about the NRA’s expenditure on candidates.

Some forces are at work to make Americans afraid to go to the polls.  Many of us have thought such times were in the past – we were wrong.  We have seen our fellow citizens pepper-sprayed.  We have seen a Biden convoy dangerously attacked on the roads of Texas.  We have seen armed, threatening men trying to intimidate voters at the polls. We have seen ballots misplaced in Florida and we have seen voting lines made as long and as uncomfortable as possible.  Everyone who has made it past these obstacles to vote – whoever for – is a hero.  We need to have a government that will abolish these and myriad other problems, and we can get that:  if we all vote.

ACTION:

To take this action:  VOTE, and ask at least one other person in your family/group of close friends to vote as well.

This may give you an opportunity to discuss the important issues of this election, not least we need to change the system which takes 40,000 peoples ‘ lives every year through gun deaths.

If you have already voted, please fill in the fields below to show you have voted.  If you are voting tomorrow, please fill the fields in afterwards.

This election and America’s gun laws are a matter of life and death, so thank you for taking one of the most important actions you can:  voting.

Trump: You don’t keep promises and it costs lives

1 October, Las Vegas three years ago – 58 people were murdered; they wanted a happy day out with friends.  The guns available to their murderer were so high-tech and so powerful, he killed from a great distance away and they had no chance.  No ‘good guy with a gun’ (an NRA myth) would have been able to save those innocent lives in the small amount of time in which they died.  However, better gun laws just might have saved them – laws Trump promised he would bring in.

Within a month Trump was renewing the gun law reform promises made during his campaign which he had abandoned.

In this BBC article’s embedded video, Trump says “…we need background checks so that ‘sick’ people don’t get guns.”

He also talked about ‘doing a lot of work after Parkland’ -which is dubious, and the president also said “We can do very meaningful background checks; I want to see it happen.”

The only thing that happened is that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell sat on bipartisan bills the House passed to the Senate to vote on which would have meant better background checks.  Mitch is proud of stopping gun law reform, and likes to think of himself, even now during the devastating pandemic as ‘The Grim Reaper’ who won’t let bills be voted on.  Trump had an eye-watering $30 million   from the NRA and Mitch $1.29 million  ; all at a time when the NRA was hopelessly compromised by its involvement with Russian agents and Russian money.

We will remind Trump – but more crucially we will remind voters – that Trump made these gun law reform promises and discarded them, undoubtedly costing lives:  Trump’s promises must not be taken seriously by voters.

ACTION:

Please contact Trump and/or McConnell through one of the channels below and give them the following message, personalized to your liking.  Reminder- we are not going to change Trump or McConnell; our purposes are to show people that there is opposition to the pair’s gun policies, to show people that there is visible opposition to how the pair have acted over guns, and not least to remind voters that they cannot trust Trump to keep promises:

Yesterday was the third anniversary of the Las Vegas shooting which claimed 58 lives.  You promised gun law reform before you got into office and again after this tragedy:  WHERE IS IT?

McConnell sits on two bipartisan bills which could have saved lives; he has the audacity to proudly call himself ‘The Grim Reaper’ even during a pandemic.  His contempt for lives and the House makes him unfit for office.  If he cared about the Constitution, he would allow votes on bills from the House.

Mr Trump, I want every voter to understand that your promises are empty and you are not to be trusted.  Reasonable people, however they feel about guns, have to acknowledge that you will say things you don’t mean, cannot be relied on, and do not follow through on your word.  You are unfit to be president, and I pledge to Vote You Out.

-or this tweet:-

@realDonaldTrump @senatemajldr Trump promised gun law reforms; he lied. It’s 3 years since Las Vegas shooting- no change. McConnell calls himself Grim Reaper as he’s killed gun law reform bills which cd have saved lives. You can’t vote for people you can’t trust. VOTE THEM OUT!

Tell Trump shooting someone 7 times is not the same as choking at golf

Jacob Blake

Kenosha, Wisconsin – protests continue following the shooting – seven times in the back at point blank range – of Jacob Blake on August 23rd.

Jacob BlakeFar right protesters are coming from out of state and inciting violence.  They including 17-year old Kyle Rittenhouse who is now on a murder charge:  his mother drove him and his weapon to the demonstrations, where he shot two people dead.

Far right protesters have been driving through streets lined with demonstrators, shooting them with paintball guns – a sinister message that they could be shooting for real.

President Trump defied the mayor’s pleas to stay away.  He refused to condemn Rittenhouse’s actions, and instead implied that Rittenhouse was in fear for his life – remarks that could certainly sway any jury, coming from the president as they do.  In fact, Rittenhouse was too young to have a weapon without parental supervision in Wisconsin, which is a misdemeanor charge to add to his five felony charges including his two victims who died.  This highlights how disconnected the country’s gun laws are.

However, Trump’s words to Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Monday show how totally lacking in empathy he is.  President Trump compared police officers who shoot people to golfers who “choke” in a tournament and “miss a three-foot putt.”

We have a president with no concept of ‘excessive force’, who went back on his early promises to reform gun law, and whose intellectual grasp of Mr Blake’s shooting is ‘there’s a whole big thing there.

ACTION:

Please contact Donald Trump through one of the channels below and give him the following message, personalized to your liking:

I am disgusted that you have shown a complete lack of empathy for a man shot seven times in the back at point blank range and his family.  You compared the officer who took this action to golfers who “choke” in a tournament and “miss a three-foot putt.”

There is no reason to have made such a callous, bizarre attempt at analogy, but for the record:- being paralyzed or killed because a police officer ‘choked’ is not to be flippantly compared to someone’s golf score.  I find it unbelievable anyone in a position of power would say such a thing.

I will remember your unacceptable golf analogy in November when I vote, just like I will remember how you ignored your promises to tackle gun law reform.  Instead, your 2016 campaign took millions of dollars from the NRA – at a time it was taking money from Russia and dealing with Russian operatives.  A senate sub committee dubbed your NRA patron ‘ a Russian asset’ – yet you took no action on this, or on the recent discovery that the Russian government was paying a bounty to the Taliban for killing our servicemen and women.  I will remind all of my family, friends and colleagues of these powerful reasons to vote against your re-election.

I call on our next president to act on gun law reform as a matter of urgency, and for an across-the-boards vast improvement in screening and training police officers.

-OR- send this tweet, altered to your liking:

@realDonaldTrump you compare shooting of #JacobBlake – 7x point blank in the back to a golfer choking on a 3′ putt. What kind of leader has so little empathy? When I vote I’ll think of this, your $$$ from Russian-funded @NRA and your inaction on Russian bounty on our troops.

No Trump, you cannot threaten to shoot people

29 May 2020 – Following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police, peaceful protests as well as riots have broken out.  Trump subsequently tweeted he wants to shoot looters.  So much for upholding the constitution as his oath binds him to do.

Police knelt on Mr Floyd’s neck, asphyxiating him.  The white officers at the scene gave him no help and did nothing stop their colleague’s fatal, illegal assault.  They lost their jobs – but no arrests were made and no charges brought.  Understandably this has caused outrage and protest.

Peaceful protests turned ugly – with vandalism, arson and allegedly looting.  In some video footage purporting to be from the scene, heavily-disguised white men are seen breaking windows and assembling materials that may have been used in arson.  There does not seem to be any record of police looking for, or arresting them.  It certainly looks at the moment as if they sought to discredit the peaceful protest and further inflame racial tensions:  they need to be found, identified, charged.

Police have today shockingly arrested CNN personnel who were legally, safely covering the scene.  In a video CNN’s crew repeatedly ask the police where they should stand.  Police say nothing to the reporters until for no discernible, legal reason they start arresting the team.  This was wholly illegal and is all embarrassingly for them caught on camera.

Our action concerns the president of the country calling for looters to be shot.

As much as Trump might like the country to become a rights-free dictatorship, we will not allow this to happen.

His hate speech has been proven to have inflamed racial tensions and led to violence since even before he took office.

We are drawing a line.

ACTION

Either add your name and home city to the Facebook post about this action alert and your details will be added to the message One Pulse sends to Trump and Governor Walz – or send your own message:

Please contact Donald Trump, cc Governor Walz   through one of the channels below and give them the following message, personalized to your liking:

The police in Minneapolis are out of control, witness the death of George Floyd.  We at One Pulse for America demand the arrest, charging and trial of all involved in this killing, and a comprehensive, independent investigation of what certainly looks like institutionalized racism in the force.  We expect to see resignations of those at the top too.

We understand why people are furious; we are too.  We have watched peaceful protests – and have seen proof that these have been hijacked by a tiny number of people who turned them violent:  people who are caught on video, some of whom are white males.  We demand that police find, arrest and charge these suspects.

We believe that Trump’s tweet ‘when the looting starts the shooting starts’ violates his oath to uphold the constitution and is an attack on all our rights.  The shooting threat is designed to cow those who want to exercise their right to peaceful protest.  If white men can take automatic rifles into state capitals to protest life-saving measures, then those who want to protest peacefully  against injustice must see their rights upheld too.  By tweeting that it is OK to shoot looting suspects Trump is also by implication giving his permission for police to shoot/kill other crime suspects.  Of all the disgraceful things Trump has done or said in office, this is among the worst.

One Pulse for America campaigns on any and all gun-related issues.  As such, we are outraged that a sitting president of our country should take to Twitter to say ‘when the looting starts the shooting starts’.  This is still a democracy, despite the best efforts of Trump to inflame via hate speech, which has resulted in violence. We will not tolerate any threat of ex-judicial execution just as we will not tolerate the ex-judicial execution of George Floyd.  We will not tolerate the continuing epidemic of police executions across the country.  We will not tolerate the arrest of journalists who have a constitutionally-protected right  to report.

No feeble excuses on any of these issues that have been offered will be entertained.  There is no excuse whatsoever for Mr Floyd’s death, for the president threatening to shoot any citizens whether breaking law or not, or for arresting news crews.

We expect to hear from Governor with  news that arrests are being made on the killing of Mr Floyd, confirmation the journalists have been released without charge, an independent investigation into the entire force is launched, and the police who arrested them to be charged with false arrest.  An apology from Trump is the least he should do, but we expect very little from him.

AND/OR Suggested tweet:
@GovTimWalz @realDonaldTrump Walz I demand arrest of those involved in #GeorgeFloydMurder : death demands action. Trump how dare u threaten to shoot any1 – your threats will not intimidate legal, just protests but they show you violated your oath to uphold constitution. Resign.

Call Trump out for unacceptable VA tweet

Virginia, 17 January 2020 – The Virginia State Senate is looking at bills that could prevent gun deaths – and as a result the NRA, other pro-2nd Amendment groups and nefarious neo-Nazis are threatening violence and insurrection.  That in itself is troubling, not least as Virginia already saw its share of extremist right-wing  violence witness the death of Heather Heyer in 2017 in Charlottesville.  What is wholly unacceptable is that President Trump has tweeted a message of support to those who threaten violence in an attempt to score points over the Democrats.

Yesterday the president used his official Twitter account to tweet:

“Your 2nd Amendment is under very serious attack in the Great Commonwealth of Virginia. That’s what happens when you vote for Democrats, they will take your guns away. Republicans will win Virginia in 2020. Thank you Dems!”

Aside from the childish oversimplification, this tweet is misleading:  no one is seeking to ‘take away’ guns.  The language contains buzzwords – ‘under attack,’ ‘take your guns away’. The most alarming thing about the tweet is that it is a very loud rallying cry to all the groups that have threatened violence as a way to intimidate Virginia’s lawmakers.

According to news outlets including WHSV, the Virginia Senate advanced a number of gun control bills that have been among top priorities for Democrats.  They reported:

“Earlier this week, the Senate Judiciary Committee made waves by killing controversial Senate Bill 16, which would have re-defined and banned assault bills, while passing several other gun bills.

“On Thursday, the full Virginia Senate passed those bills as well. Trump’s tweet came after the bill was dropped:  his inflammatory tweet went out all the same. “

Donald Trump’s tweet can certainly be seen as an attempt at stirring up the extremists who have threatened violence; the FBI have arrested seven far-right neo-Nazis who may have been planning violence at the pro-gun rally held to protest the state senate’s deliberations.

Trump is supposed to represent all US citizens.  He previously indicated he was interested in gun law reform to stem the US’s tide of shootings (41,000 in 2019).  The tweet he made yesterday means all his past assurances and promises were empty.

It should be noted that those marching  / protesting any Virginia gun law reform are silent on the points that they are not allowed to carry their firearms to either GOP rallies or to NRA meetings.

ACTION:

We will tweet (ideally) or otherwise send a message of support to Virginia’s governor, which will also condemn Trump’s playing with lives, inflaming tensions, and lying about Democrats’ intentions all for his own political ends.

Please contact Donald Trump and Virginia Governor Ralph Northam through one of the channels below and give them the following message, personalized to your liking:

@realdonaldtrump, this tweet’s dangerous, untrue, selfish. Dems weren’t trying 2 take guns. You knew the far right planned violence, but u tried to score points.  Your past claims to act on gun law reform were dishonest.  You owe Virginia, @RalphNortham an apology for ur actions

Tell Commander-in-Chief Trump he’s responsible for Pensacola

Pensacola, Florida; three sailors were killed by a Saudi national at a US Navy training college.

Three US Navy sailors were killed when they “didn’t run from danger” after a Saudi officer opened fire at the base, US Navy officials said.  Eight others were injured.  The murdered sailors were Airman Mohammed Sameh Haitham, 19, of St. Petersburg, Florida; Airman Apprentice Cameron Scott Walters, 21, of Richmond Hill, Georgia; and Ensign Joshua Kaleb Watson, 23, from Coffee County, Alabama.
While many partner nations study with US armed forces, Trump had announced that he was hiring the US armed forces out to Saudi Arabia – a country with appalling human rights violations linked to training the 911 terrorists and whose crown prince is heavily implicated in the gruesome murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi last year.

Tulsi Gabbard, a congresswoman and a member of the armed forces, put the case forward against hiring our forces to the Saudis very strongly in this video.

Trump has made a speech announcing he and the Saudis send condolences to the families:  and he said the Saudis will be sending compensation to the families.  He is pictured in this photo (Daily Mail) illustrating the kind of military aid he gave to Saudi Arabia.

Sending compensation, presumably in the form of money.  Trump said this without a hint of remorse for his part in the deaths and as if there were any amount of money that can ‘compensate’ to those who lost a son, brother, loved one in such a horrific manner.

This wholly avoidable tragedy is further compounded by the revelation that the cold-blooded murderer hosted a party where terrorist shooting videos were enjoyed, and that a Saudi present filmed the execution of the sailors.

It is intolerable that one of the world’s bloodiest regimes has anything to do with the US armed forces.  It is morally bankrupt that we have a draft-dodging president who calmly says Saudi compensation will be offered to these families when he should be announcing the immediate dissolution of the Saudi involvement in our armed forces in any shape or form.  We can only speculate what kind of classified material has been sent to the Saudis by such murdering agents.

As CNN reports, “Friday’s attack was the second shooting at a military base in three days. Last week, active duty US sailor Seaman Gabriel Romero killed two civilian employees and injured another before killing himself at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in Hawaii. Investigators have not announced a motive for that shooting.”

And of course, in case there is any doubt, the gun used to kill these young men who wanted to serve their country was ‘bought legally.  President Trump’s  unethical Muslim travel ban, which saw wholly innocent families turned away from visits to Disneyland, treated appallingly by TSA personnel, didn’t apply to this murderer or his colleague who filmed the killing.

ACTION:

Yesterday, we sent messages of condolence to the families, friends, loved ones, colleagues of those who were killed or injured – it is not too late to take that action – click hereToday we will take an action on President Trump, who in no small part is the author of this situation.

When you announced in September that you were going to hire out the United States Armed Forces to the terrorism-linked, human-rights-denying Saudi regime, I was disgusted.

I am furious that three naval officers were shot dead and eight others were injured by a Saudi officer in our Naval Air Station in Pensacola.  Then you announced the Saudis would be sending ‘compensation’.  I don’t call it compensation – I call it blood money.

Your family’s  links with the Saudis is appalling, but to lend American military expertise and training to the people who were behind many atrocities, including at least one Saudi official’s alleged links to the 911 bombers and the murder of Washington Post  journalist Jamal Khashoggi is to me nothing short of treason.

Today the articles of impeachment were lodged, and I am glad of it.  I want to see you immediately cut any links between the Saudi military and our great country.  For a man who has made a meal out of Benghazi and attempted to pin the deaths on Clinton and others, let me be clear:  three are dead and eight are injured because of you.  As commander-in-chief, you are responsible for those lives tragically cut short and those wounded.  You are a sycophant to the Saudis. You are nearly as responsible for this avoidable tragedy as the Saudi gunman.  Resign, or at least get Saudi Arabia away from my country’s armed forces now.

 A suggested tweet:

@realDonaldTrump It was a dark day when you hired US forces to Saudi Arabia, known for human rights violations, links to terrorism. It was a worse day when 3 naval officers were shot dead, 8 wounded at Pensacola by a Saudi officer. Impeached? You should be arrested for treason.

Tell NRA-funded Senators their integrity is suspect

November 2019 – The evidence is incontrovertible:  the NRA was infiltrated by Russian agents and operatives who broke our laws, interfered with our 2016 election, and channeled untold millions to pro-NRA politicians.

According to Fortune:

“In 2016, the NRA spent more than $30 million on behalf of the Trump campaign, according to Federal Election Commission dataIt was a staggering number compared to 2012 … The Trump campaign represented the lion’s share of the group’s spending—the NRA spent $54 million on the 2016 elections in total.

There are suggestions that the total amount could be higher. In 2017, McClatchy reported that the total number for spending in 2016 was “close to $70 million, and perhaps much more.”

However, a full accounting of the group’s spending in 2016 may never come to light. An FEC investigation into another McClatchy report of whether the former Russian central banker, Alexander Torshin, illegally funneled money to the NRA to aid Trump, has been dropped by the FEC after Republican members objected to it.”

The problems:

This state of affairs is an absolute scandal, and a foreign power infiltrating a powerful lobby such as the NRA and influencing our elections to such a degree is without precedent.  It is alarming in the extreme.  Those who are beneficiaries of Russian-funded NRA contributions should not get a say over the impeachment of Trump, NRA’s/Russia’s chosen president.  We are talking about tens of millions of dollars; we are talking about the Senate being filled with people indebted to Russia for their Senate seats.

ACTION

Please contact your US senators through the link below – or search for them on Twitter and/or Facebook, and give them the following message, personalized to your liking:

“Dear Senators

“We all know that the country is in an unprecedented state:  The NRA spent tens of millions on the last election:  while it was infiltrated with Russian agents and while it was awash with Russian funding.  NRA head Wayne LaPierre has virtually promised Trump that the NRA can save him from impeachment.  The only way that would be possible is if senators are in the NRA’s debt.

“I highly doubt that any Senators in the NRA’s debt will do the honourable thing and recuse themselves from voting in the likely event the impeachment reaches the Senate.  If I thought it would be useful to appeal to such people’s honor or love of their country, I would.

“However, I want you to know I will be watching how my senators perform very carefully.  I want you to be certain:  I am never going to vote for an NRA candidate after the Senate sub-committee found the NRA is a Russian Asset.  Some Senators received modest amounts of NRA money; others received millions.  I will be watching how the impeachment process unfolds and what you do as it happens, and how you vote.

“As your constituent, I want you to respond to me, and tell me:  how much money did you receive from the NRA; are you obliged to the NRA as LaPierre implied to the president; and what you intend to do about the NRA; the bills Mitch McConnell is sitting on that could save lives; and what you will do to ensure our next elections are not compromised.

“If you are one of the senators fighting to rectify this alarming state of affairs, then you have my sincere thanks.”

The NRA IS a Russian Asset: watch, share Maria Butina CBS interview

3 November 2019 – CBS’s Lesley Stahl has arguably conducted the most important interview of the year.

This remarkable interview confirms the  NRA was definitely infiltrated by young Russian government agent Maria Butina – and CBS has uncovered more damning evidence of her illegal activities which were directed by a Putin top official.

Breaking federal law by operating in the USA without officially registering that she was an agent for the Russian government as our laws require, Butina communicated with Putin’s close aid Alexander Torshin.  Maria was welcome at the highest levels in the NRA, met prominent GOP members, and even knew who potential Trump appointees would be.  She could never have got access to so many politicians without the NRA’s help.

Butina was pictured with Trump Jr, and asked Torshin if she could publish that picture.  Butina is on video asking Donald J Trump a question about Russian sanctions at an event, and he gave an answer Russia wanted to hear.  This ‘student’ organized an NRA trip to Moscow, shared over 2000 private messages with Torshin, and sought to influence highly-placed NRA and GOP figures all at the time the Russians were seeking to influence the 2016 Presidential election.

After this CBS interview, every single politician who still takes NRA money is not just guilty of ignoring America’s gun tragedy victims.  They are also guilty of complicity with the NRA:  now 100% proven to be a Russian asset, as demonstrated by the Butina case and by a recent Senate report.  Any individual or company donating to the NRA can no longer pretend they care about America.
